I am genuinely getting sick of how the Delightex gallery currently works, and I don’t think this is an issue that should continue to be ignored.
I recently found a remix of my game that is NEARLY IDENTICAL TO THE ORIGINAL, yet somehow it is sitting at the top of the gallery. Meanwhile, if someone actually wants to find MY original game, they have to scroll for over 10 MINUTES just to get to it.
Let that sink in for a moment. I made the original game, put the time and effort into developing it, and someone can remix it, republish it, and end up getting more visibility than the person who actually created it in the first place.
HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?
I’m not saying that remixing is inherently bad. Remixing is a great way to learn, experiment, and build upon other people’s work. But when a remix that is practically the exact same game can outperform the original in visibility, something is seriously wrong with the system.
Original creators should NOT have to watch their own work get buried underneath copies of it. If someone builds upon another person’s project, the original creator deserves recognition, and people should be able to find the original without having to dig through pages and pages of games.
And this isn’t the only problem.
New games barely get a chance to succeed.
From what I’ve observed, newly published games get a brief window of visibility, often around 12 hours, before they are pushed so far down the gallery that most people will never find them.
TWELVE HOURS IS NOT ENOUGH.
Creators can spend days, weeks, or even months working on a project, only for it to receive a tiny window of exposure before effectively disappearing into the depths of the gallery.
Not every creator has a large following. Not everyone has friends who can immediately boost their game’s popularity. Some of the best projects are made by people who are still learning, experimenting, or creating something genuinely unique.
Those creators deserve a fair opportunity to be discovered, too.
Instead, I’ve come across genuinely impressive games that are buried deep in the gallery, while much simpler projects and what appears to be low-effort, AI-generated content get pushed towards the top.
The gallery should reward creativity, effort, originality, and quality. It should not make discovering genuinely good games feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.
What needs to change?
I believe Delightex needs to seriously reconsider how its gallery works. Here are two changes that I believe are absolutely necessary:
1. Give the gallery a proper update.
New games need more opportunities to be discovered, and older projects that are still worth playing should not simply disappear because they are no longer new. The gallery needs a better way of showcasing fresh releases, original projects, and genuinely great games instead of allowing visibility to become so limited that most creators are effectively competing for a tiny window of attention.
This could include a dedicated New Releases section, better discovery and recommendation systems, and ways to bring quality older projects back into the spotlight.
2. Give original creators more protection and control over remixes.
At an absolute minimum, remixed projects should have a clear, unavoidable notice identifying them as remixes, with proper credit to the original creator and a DIRECT LINK to the original project.
There should also be consideration for giving original creators more control over how their work is reused and republished, with options that respect the creator’s wishes.
Remixing should help creativity spread, NOT allow the original creator to be overshadowed by a near-identical copy with no obvious connection to the original.
Please take this seriously.
Delightex is a platform where people spend their time learning, creating, experimenting, and building things they are genuinely proud of. The gallery is one of the main ways those creations reach an audience.
When the gallery fails to give creators a fair chance to be discovered, it undermines the effort they put into their projects. When near-identical remixes can receive more visibility than the originals, it undermines the recognition that original creators deserve.
What is the point of spending weeks developing an original game if someone can copy it, republish it, and end up being the one everyone sees?
I’m bringing this up because I care about Delightex and the projects people create on it. But caring about the platform also means being willing to point out when something is fundamentally unfair.
I’m asking the Delightex team to look seriously at how the gallery ranks and displays projects, and how original creators are credited when their work is remixed.
Creators deserve recognition. Original work deserves to be discoverable. And the gallery needs to do a MUCH better job of making both of those things happen.
