Introductory tutorial project not completable with a free account

I’m a teacher educator who was super excited to learn about this tool, after jerry-rigging 3D worldbuilding activities using non-education-specific tools like PlayCanvas during lockdown.

However, it’s concerning that, even when trying the initial introductory tutorial, I get presented with an error prompting me to upgrade to the paid version of the service. Specifically, in the object manipulation part of the tutorial, you are prompted to drag a cat model into the project. Trying to do so immediately generates a window admonishing you for trying to “upload” more than 10 “external files.”

In addition to being a kind of ethically weird choice to make in your “welcome” tutorial, the language also feels inaccurate. I was not uploading any external files. I was dragging a file from the library into the project. Those are different things, and the poorly-worded language doesn’t give me much confidence that the included tutorials would actually be helpful for my students.

I would recommend rewording that error message to more accurate describe the problem, and I would recommend designing the tutorial so that people trialing the service can actually complete it while using a trial account.

All in all, I’m thinking I won’t be using this service, or recommending it to the future teachers I teach. Poorly-designed tutorials, poorly-written error messages, and surprise damnds to upgrade the service all make the product feel extortionate and cheap.

EDIT: Strange, when creating my own project, I am allowed to drag in as many things as I want, and, indeed, the 10 item limit is for uploads. Which makes the tutorial message/warning when dragging the cat into the tutorial project seem like a genuine mistake/error.
